And then Im going to tell you about my foundation for an hour and totally hustle you.”Destined for a life in showbiz encouraged by  her father, the Nashville-born 23-year-old has scooped accolade after accolade. She was Billboard’s  fourth best-selling female artist of 2009, and MTV declared her the 2013 Artist of the Year. Cyrus  ha s also had a  successful acting career thanks to roles in  Hannah Montana: The Movie, LOL, and The Last Song.More significantly, she  has been named  on the Time 100 list of most influential people not just once but twice. She first made the cut in 2008, aged just 15, and again in 2014, with stars such as Donny Osmond and Dolly Parton applauding her values as much as her artistic energy.One of the more notable and active philanthropists in showbusiness, Cyrus  has made huge donations to and awareness-raising efforts for causes as diverse as AIDS research and dog rescue organisations. She started her own foundation to raise money and awareness for homeless youth, with a particular focus on LGBT homeless youth, believed to account for 40 percent of all homeless children in the US.And as regards her sometimes provocative image, she is unrepentant: “When you have all eyes on you, what are you saying? she  told  Associated Press in 2015,  Its like, I know youre going to look at me more if my breasts are out, so look at me. She  appeared on the 25th anniversary recording of We Are The World  (see video), as well as an all-star version of Everybody Hurts,  to raise money for earthquake relief in Haiti in 2010. Also that year,  Cyrus donated the dress she wore to the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards and two  tickets to the premiere of her film, The Last Song, to help raise more money for the victims of the earthquake.In April 2011, the singer  starred in an advertisement for the Red Cross asking people to donate  $10 to help those affected by that year’s devastating earthquake and tsunami in  Japan.  Later in 2011, she  appeared in another commercial for the J/P Haitian Relief Organisation.Children’s Cha ritiesimage source:  Make a wishAt the start of 2011, Cyrus joined up with the Kids Wish Network to meet with a fan suffering from  Spina Bifida. Cyrus is also a big supporter of the Make a Wish Foundation, and has helped a number of sick children meet their heroes. She has frequently attended its benefit concerts and in 2008 and 2009, donated one dollar from every ticket sold for her  Best of Both Worlds and  Wonder World tours to the organisation.  Her  talents have also featured in videos for  Just Stand Up!, (during the 2008 ‘Stand Up To Cancer’ telethon); and  Send It On, (a promotional charity single in aid of international environmental associations).
